Good sight I have been arguing for years with my wife about the cold/hot water boiling issue. Glad I can show her something to back me up. She just doesnt understand physics.
As for the eggs, I had never heard of it and I use whole milk only. I found 2% milk didnt make them as fluffy. Never had a problem and seems to always mix fine. I like mine soft and fluffy and my wife likes hers drier and browned a bit. I just cook hers longer. Don't seem to have any problems. So my experience backs up the myth side.
I do not buy the baking soda as a myth. The source is from one scientist and it doesn't really address the actual refridgerator application. I know science and it is full of studies with competing/conflicting results. I would like to see more complete evidence before I stop using baking soda in my fridge. It seems to work for me. Not that the fridge stinks when I don't use it, but I can distinctly taste some of the other foods stored in there when I say take a drink of milk or some tea from a pitcher.

Cold water shouldn't boil faster but I believe that boiled or heated water freezes faster. It's always my hot water lines that will freeze faster during extremely low temps.

I had a guy laugh me outta town once with the cold water boiling before hot. It's really not alot to do with physics.......its common sense I think.....lol
Can't believe I fell for that one.
