Holy chants

A lot of the chants I found on my last walk were full of bug holes. Cut them up in very small pieces & couldn't find a single bug. What kind of bugs do you find in chants ? I assume they are ok to eat since it looks like the bugs are gone. Some had exit holes in the caps. Is there a larvae or worm that is to small to see ? Thanks for any replies. Inquiring minds want to know.

Look VERY closely. As some of the worms are really small. They have a Tiny little head that looks like a speck of Pepper, (sometimes smaller)

Maybe they have already vacated, but odds are if they have holes in them, theres a worm inside.
