One Dry Yellow in Van Buren County...4/27/17

I only found one dried up yellow in Van Buren County today. It felt dry and looked a little weird, so I left it behind. It may have been safe to eat, but I don't like taking chances. Better safe than sorry.
Ironically, I had found a fresh one in that same exact spot, under a grove of Eastern White Pine trees, last year on May 3rd.

It's a strange year for sure. But I guess we say that almost every year.
It's a good thing that you don't take chances. Your health is much more important.

BTW, I went back and picked this one. The rain rehydrated it, it was nice and solid. Another one I found that was dried up crumbled when I tried to pick it after it was rehydrated, so it is laying in pieces on the ground near the stump where I found it...hopefully spreading spores.
