Anyone finding anything edilble?
Haven't really hunted for much outside of morels and phesant backs. Whats out there this time of the year?

It's kind of in between oysters and chanterelles, which usually start around the Fourth of July in my not too extensive experience. I think there might be chickens out, but I haven't had the good fortune of finding any.

Oysters & chickens have been going good with all the rains. Chants are just starting, I'm in NE Ohio.

Re: Anyone finding anything edilble?
We had a wet July, but other than rain last Friday and some a couple of days ago, we haven't had much rain in August.
I hiked in Warren Woods last weekend and didn't see much of anything, except a couple of polypore fungus.

Usually fall mushrooms like honeys and boletes can be found at Warren Woods in Southern Berrien County in September and October, especially when there is cooler weather and lots of lake effect rain from Lake Michigan.

I have found chants, chicken, lobsters, hedgehogs. It has been another wet summer, hoping for a good mushroom season. Up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Re: Anyone finding anything edilble?
It has been so extremely dry here in Ingham county this year that almost nothing is growing. We get an occasional rain that causes the
Leucoagaricus americanus http://www.mushroomexpert.com/leucoa...mericanus.html to pop up over night. I haven't tried them yet.

I've picked a few Polyporus squamosus and enjoyed them very much.

It is raining right now and has rained a bit over the past week so I'm hoping to find some black trumpets soon. I found one chanterelle button last week.

This has been the worst mushroom season I've ever had. Worse than 2012.
