The"Chick" started me
I couldn't believe my eyes!
Driving my route one day I spotted an orange "ball" on the side of the road. It was between the sidewalk and a fence around an abandoned factory. I pulled over when I safely could and walked back. It wasn't a ball, and I thought I knew what it was, so I picked it up. Several texts and pix later it was confirmed as a 2.8 lb Chicken of the Woods. I got home that evening, cut some up to eat with my ribeye steak. I then steamed the rest of it for 45 seconds and froze the fronds whole. Today I took a woods walk and found nothing. That is until I got to within 20 feet of my driveway and found two young Pheasant Tails. I'm hooked. |
