Elm Oyster???

3 Attachment(s)
Found this cluster just at the base of a distressed oak. It appeared to be attached to underground roots. Spores were white. The ground was covered with them. Found around Clare. Tops were creamy white, slight tan around the rim. Biggest caps are about 2.5 inches across. From what I can tell, it does not appear to be a true oyster because the gills do not run down the stem. Could use some help identifying this one. Could it possibly be Hypsizygus marmoreus? Anyone have experience with these.

I couldn't get the image to enlarge so I'm just going by what I can see in the thumbnail image but I'd say those were oysters. Did they smell good... perhaps a bit like anise?

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner.
