i was once told that morels will overproduce or create a "flush" when they think their host tree is gonna die...then sometimes nothing or a few in the years to come...there are a lot of factors involved...but as a good shroomer told me recently...the spores gotta go somewhere!...if ya got elms or ash in different stages of decay close to the spot, you might get lucky...dont get discouraged. After all they arent called the elusive morel for nuttin. Keep your head to the ground, they're bound to be found!
