Tree polypores...Chicken Mushrooms?

I was taking pics of 32 year-old storm damage for a facebook album I titled 32 years later...it was 32 years ago when a powerful thunderstorm went across Southern Michigan leaving trees down everywhere...this was probably the most powerful thunderstorm I have experienced.
Anyways, after looking at my picture, I noticed a bunch of mushrooms growing on a Black Cherry tree that had lost its top on July 16, 1980 when the storm hit. This is a tree I remember seeing as a kid because it was near my school, and at the time was a tall stand-alone tree.
I was focused on where the top had been broken off and didn't notice the mushrooms. I'll have to go back with my telephoto lens and get pics of the mushrooms.
