"Coprinus Atramentarius" - Alcohol Inky?

Hi gang! Can you tell from photos if this is an alcohol inky? Growing in mulch, some in grass near-by the mulch. Black spore print. I'm new to most any mushroom that doesnt start with "Morchella"

.. but am trying to expand my knowledge. I left a bunch more of these behind because I really just wanted to bring some home to identify. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Them or mica caps, would need to have them in hand for positive I.D brad,mike

Thanks Mike. Gotcha. Mica Cap was the other one I was looking at in my field guide. I definitely need to do more homework. Learning this stuff from a book is difficult (for me).

I can get close in most cases-- but the finer points are lost to me.

Tough call. Both have blackish spore prints.

I'm leaning towards Alcohol Inky by the color of the caps. Mica caps are more of a tawny brown in the pictures in the Audubon and the Simon and Schuster's guides that I have.

Neither is poisonous, though the Audubon guide says "Good with caution" for Alcohol Inky while the Mica Inky is just "edible."

To be on the safe side, if you do decide to eat them, drink no alcohol for a couple of days after eating it.
