"Season" Question

I am wondering about the different times that morels grow. Everything that I have been reading has said that generally the "half-free's" grow first, followed by the blacks and then lastly the yellows. Is this pretty accurate? I have happened on a good spot and I am finding quite a few fresh "half-free's". Does this mean my blacks are yet to come? I know the times are never a sure thing, just curious what your experience tells you. Also, is it worth my while to look for blacks and yellows where I'm finding the half-free's or do they generally grow in different areas? Thanks for your help in advance!

That is accurate with my experience...not sure about others...I found a ton of half-frees over the weekend but just a few tiny blacks....last year we found blacks....then greys....then the yellows all in that order.....and yes for us they were all in the same area....but I hear they normally grow in different areas....I guess it all depends...people are finding them everywhere this year so that's great! Good luck

Re: "Season" Question

The baffling thing to me is that I found 3 yellows not far the same are but across an open space. I found several half free's this morning that are really fresh though so not sure what to make of it all. Lol. thanks for your help!

Your welcome...I was searching for a pic from last year but can't find...it's on here somewhere...but we actually found fresh blacks, greys and yellows all in the same day....so I guess it can anyway....maybe it has to do with the soil...might find blacks and then go over another hill to find greys and yellows.....you never know :)
