Surprise find

The morel season in NE Ohio wasn't great. When the blacks should have popped it was to cold. Picked about 10 dozen yellows & it's over here. Weekend before last last we had freezing rain & snow. It did get a bunch of shaggie parasols to flush. Never found them in May before!

Re: Surprise find

I will be watching for the shaggies. I have had both a spring and late summer flush of parasols several times.

Re: Surprise find

Found three shaggies today. I am watering under the spruce trees tonight in hopes of a larger flush.

Thanks for your post. If prompted me to look for them.

Re: Surprise find

Nice! I gave some away & just finished eating the rest with fresh easy over eggs cooked in the juices. Talk about steak & eggs. I'll be taking another look tomorrow. Here's a pic of my new hobby, man, the eggs taste great!

Re: Surprise find

I really need to check under my one spruce tree that produced some Shaggy Parasols last year.
We had a good soaking of rain Wednesday night/Thursday morning in Berrien County. (Southern Berrien also had some rain Monday evening.)

Re: Surprise find

Didn't find anything under my spruce trees. Perhaps it's a little early in Berrien County, MI. Searching the forums, I don't think I've found any before Aug 1. I thought I had found some in July of last year.
