Developed an intolerance to chants?

I have eaten chants three times now in the last couple of weeks and have not felt well after every time. I have been hunting and eating them for several years now with never even an upset stomach before. Have any of you developed a sudden intolerance for them and does it include other members of the chant family such as hedgehogs? I had no problem with the oyster mushrooms this year. I am really bummed.

I don't know about Chants in particular, but some people do develop an intolerance to certain mushrooms, or even all mushrooms, especially after eating borderline shrooms, like caps, and false morels, that look like a brain or baseball glove

But I suggest, that you make SURE your mushrooms are cooked thoroughly all the way through. Make notes about anything else you ate with them.

Some mushrooms are supposed be safe to eat raw, like Hens, but I just can't take that chance for myself.

Sure hope you aren't intolerant. That would take a whole bunch of joy from your life.

Re: Developed an intolerance to chants?

Thanks Frank. I keep trying to think of other things, like onions or cheese that I put with them, but I haven't been able to think of anything, and I do always cook them thoroughly. Oh, well, more for my husband to eat, I guess, and I will hope I don't have the same trouble with hedgehogs, and lobsters.....

That's good that you can eat other mushrooms! Just skip the Chants if they bother you and enjoy the orter woodland bounty. We all have some food that we love, but just can't tolerate in our body. So we have to pass on it, with regrets.
