i was just woundering about how good of a job the praying mantis does with the bugs, if you use them do they take care of your bug prob totally or would ya still have to spray for some bugs? in which prob would harm the mantis right?

Jon,. the mantis will kill and devour anything it can get its grips on, unfortunetly they are highly sussiptible to pesticides due to their size, and abosorption ratio, mike

Good to know HW, Will the mantis take care of the leaf rollers on my apple trees?
If not what can I use that will not harm the mantis?

This is a very interesting subject. I always read about introducing species to your garden to keep bugs away but never thought it was this popular. May be something to give a try this year. Where can you order egg cases at? Do they naturally find a spot to lay new eggs and where do you place the new ones that you order?
Does this mean you have to eliminate your spraying all together or are there organic sprays that will not harm the mantis? Again very interesting discussion. I gain so much knowledge from this board.
