Wow, nice job, guys!!! I'm begging for the rain we are SUPPOSED to get on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday along with cooler temps. It's so dry in my neck of the woods, if the Hens were to pop, you wouldn't need a dehydrator to get the moisture out! It's getting a little maddening! Good job again you two!!!

Re: Hens and Chicken

My area has not had any rain in over two weeks. We had a wet June and July. The woods look extremely dry. I quess the logs are still holding moisture down deep. The chickens are hard to figure when to look for, I have found them in May and all the way through November.

Re: Hens and Chicken

Been cuting blewits for about a week now, had to go to another woods to check up on some hens. Some small ones i left a week ago to grow up,just whithered away to nothing, some grew nicely. And finally one of my chicken trees started to produce.

Re: Hens and Chicken

Hi Jon,

I have found chicken (mostly sulfur shelves) right into October.

After 10" of rain 2 weeks ago and perfect dry air for the last 14 days, I can tell you that we need some RAIN. Went out today and crunched through some of my best woods. Not a thing.

I have picked 3 hens so far (not countin the hen disaster that we shall never speak of again).

Ed

ps....Leonard. Great picture of that hen tree.

Re: Hens and Chicken

Today, near the house, I found a very fresh L. cincinatus (white pored chicken) and a couple of small hens. I cut one of the hens and left the other to grow. Being somewhat optimistic, I went for a hunt with birrdybrad and we found oodles of entoloma, but the rest of the woods had very little mushroom growth. We left with empty bags, but the friendship is still intact for another hunt.

Yes George. Freindship still intact. And thank you for the follow up call and offering of the white pore Chicken. That was thoughtfull of you. But I just could't stand the thought of taking food out of Glendas mouth.

Offering me up two different species earlier on in the day was quiet sufficient.

My gratitude Sir.
