Sweet potatoes

I started in March the old method of starting slips by putting tooth picks around the sweet potatoes and putting them in a glass of water. They seem to be doing good some slips are close to 6" high just wondering if anyone has ever tried this I'm kinda worried about removing them from the potatoes and getting the slips to grow roots. I have read a couple different ways one is to remove put in glass of water to grow roots the other to remove and pot.

Re: Sweet potatoes

We remove them when 4-6" tall and put them in water to root, then plant.
