So what do you experts think? Is the season shot? Even with rain forecast for the next 5 days these 80+ days and dry conditions seem to not bode well?

The fat lady has sung. Not saying you won't find any, but it's not enough to be worth the effort. My season is done.

Re: HOT and DRY

Well it's been hot and very very very dry here in SEMI for the last while. I don't even remember the last rains we got... i think it was when it SNOWED almost 2 weeks ago! lol. gotta love MI. I'm no longer finding fresh poppings and only morels that remain in the shade have any decent quality to them. Other than that I'm finding a few dehydrated or close to it. I was really hoping it wasn't gonna end like this, but the growth on the forest floor is getting so tall, and the woods filling in so much it will be hard to find the buggers on the forest floor. I have a few places left to see if any ever show up in the late season big boys but other than that it's a wrap for me! Not a great year, maybe not even a good year, but I found enough to make my mom a huge mess for mother's day (she loves when i bring morels over lol) and have a couple of meals outside of that. I have the last meal still in my fridge :)

Re: HOT and DRY

I just returned from 4 days in Wexford county, where I have been hunting for 40 years. This was the worst year I ever had, it was HOT and DRY. There was a good rain on Wed. night, but it may be to little, too late.
