Yellows and more.....

I'm afraid the cold nights Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday bit a few of them in our area (see burnt pics) Was able to do well with a buddy yesterday south of town. Lots of thick crawling and thorns hint.... hint..... Crawled feet away and came face to face with the the biggest morel I've ever seen (had lots of fur and two eyes weird species). Nice to get out. Rain and warmer temps will bust out whatever made it through the cold by Sunday. Mid week next week in our area will be solid but then it gets mushy and sluggy after that.

I've ran into woodcock nests with fuzzballs in them, but have yet to find a fawn, face to face, while walking in the woods. I'll sure enjoy it when/if I ever do. Of course with me I won't have a camera with me.
Story of my life. LOL

I once saw a large black bear sow with two small cubs, near Copper Harbor, MI. I stopped my truck and watched as she huffed them up a pine tree. They were so small and the tree so large they looked like squirrels clinging on there. Momma bear backed her butt up against the tree and faced me, with an I DARE YOU look. So cool.

After a couple of minutes I drove on, and later remembered, I had a camera within arms reach the whole time.

Re: Yellows and more.....

Ha! That's a great story Frank. Went to our cottage on Big Star Lake in Baldwin for the holiday weekend. Found our bird feeders that were on 2' steel pipe bent all the way down to the ground. The bears did it last year too. It's funny every year when everyone comes up the weekend before memorial day to put in docks, stock bird feeders and do spring cleaning, the bears show throughout that week and just wander around the whole lake and have at it. Must eat about 300 lbs of seed and suet cakes from all the cottages the whole week.

That happen to us when we live near Gaylord too. Took a 3 day vacation in the spring, and bear tore up our feeders. Know it was a bear, because of bent poles and teeth punctures in the humming bird feeder. LOL

There has been a young black bear roaming around in Berrien County this month.

Our local paper had a picture of a bent bird feeder in St. Joseph township. Apparently it was seen in Sodus Twp and swam across the St. Joseph River into St. Joseph Twp and was raiding bird feeders.

The Black Bear that was in Michigan is now the first Black Bear to be sighted in Northern Indiana in 140 years! The last time a bear was sighted around South Bend was in 1871, when there were wildfires in Michigan.
