Re: First Morel in Michigan?

I can understand being skeptical but there is not much to gain here. Weirder things have happened. Guy seems legit .

Sure looks real. I choose to believe it! Gonna go looking Sunday! Don't want to get out there too early and trample them but how can one resist?

So has anyone ever bought Earthy Delights? What do they look like when you rehydrate them? Do they look like a fresh morel?
The ones at Meijer look so small in those bags. I imagine if you rehydrated one and stuck it in the ground, you could make it look legit.

I see at the Benton Harbor Meijer they moved them out of the produce row and put them and the rest of the mushrooms in an end cap on the end of the refrigerated produce aisle. They have more lettuce and greens in the aisle now.
BTW, the Earthy Delights Wild Morel packets are $12.99/half oz.

Earthly delights are fire burn morels. Don't taste as good as the ones we pick in Michigan.

I did see where someone rehydrated a morel and stuck it in the ground...made a convincing looking morel. This is probably what they did for their "morel finds" this year.

I have never found blacks until the Red Maples' flowers are becoming fruits, and the Black Cherries are starting to leaf out.

Been a really weird year. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Any dehydrated mushroom I've ever reconstituted doesn't like that great.

I have zero doubt that it's authentic. I have witnessed a Morel 1" tall in March. It was on a bed of moss, growing on the bank of the Pere Marquet River. The woods still had 1/2 it's ground covered with snow. The right sunlight and ground temp there is going to be that occasional perfect condition!

My two cents: It doesn't matter whether it is real or not.

If it is real, it is a statistical anomaly, and has no bearing on whether you and I are going to find pickable morels if we go out looking. The only interest it could possibly have is that of a passing trivial curiosity. That is the best case scenario.

Worst case scenario is that it is faked, and if that is the case then it is not even worth talking about.

I can believe a few could pop up. A large number of them would be difficult.

I've witnessed improbable mushroom fruiting of other varieties.
