Gatlinburg Tennessee

Anyone look for morels in Tennessee before. Heading down with friends second week in April .

Never have. Been down there many times. Did some horseback riding through the woods. Doesn't seem morel-like to me. Give it a try.

Look on Youtube. Several videos on Tennessee morels.

tulip poplar is what you want to look for if its still black season down there. It's in the magnolia family, it's not in the aspen family. Grows in stands like BTA does. basically the same kind of habitat just a different tree. lots of leaf litter, dense tree count. tulip morels can also be found (grey/blonde) in these kinds of trees.

i hunt them in West Virginia like this, so I'm sure tennessee isn't much different. also sycamore is a good tree when near the water. again, look for lots of trees and will always be near a water source. blondies will be in sycamore.
