Hens

Hens are here.

Pictures of 3 Hens harvested from my favorite tree. Beer can is a 24 oz. can. My tree has 4 more cantalope sized Hens which will be harvested this weekend. Also, my hunting partner with Honey's at his feet. 12 more Hens are waiting to be harvested.

Nice, nice. Congrats on all that good eating.

I am convinced that if I could eat maitake every single day, I would live til I was 125.

Of course, I would have to cut back on the butter, salt, steak, eggs, beer, chocolate chip cookies, deep fried bluegills, Tequila...

Never mind. Not worth it!

Re: Hens

Thanks for posting the pictures...I've not come across hens yet...your pictures are vet helpful...very nice haul of shrooms, congrats...do you parboil before bagging for freezer? What's your favorite way of eating them? I'm a greenhorn with the hens but have read they are very good for us...dr. Weil speaks highly of the benefits of hen of the woods always mentioned with the c word....cancer.
