gone are the days of 4-9000 a year. I'm venturing out but with this weather, 2nd worse year in a row. My new spots will be fine for blacks on a good year

Re: Black Ash decimated in Northern Mi

Over the last 15 years or so I have noticed that morels often grow near maple that are in the proximity of Ash trees. In fact, I would often find more around the maples than the ash because the Ash were searched harder.

With the whipe-out of the ash, I started looking around the maples trees that grew in those areas. I discovered last year that, at least in my areas up north, the morels are migrating to the maples. Last year I found tons around the maples trees that previously had ash in them. I went up one day, two weeks in a row and found a total of 775, I believe - most around maples. If I were you, I might give that a try.
