Monster Chicken
This was found in Southern Oklahoma this last weekend. A true monster. Thanks to Frank who helped me ID it, as I had never found one before while Morel hunting in these parts. Delicious!

Re: Monster Chicken
Congrats David! Nice one. I've never found one this early here in MI. Enjoy!
Inside secret - I made some potato soup last fall, my kids love it. I snuck in some pieces of this mushroom and they, who don't like mushrooms normally, loved it. They thought it was pieces of ham. LOL! It had just taken on the flavors from the soup itself.

Re: Monster Chicken
Wow...beautiful L. cincinnatus!!! Will have to check our spots now that it's warmed up, although we've never found them this early here in W.MI., either.
Sauteed in butter with garlic and a splash of soy is the choice at our house...try them on a salad, or like the grandkids - cold out of the fridge! The love Chickie Mushrooms! :)

Re: Monster Chicken
That's pretty amazing. Haven't found one of those yet, myself. I've been Morel hunting for about 5 years now...looking to branch off and start foraging for new kinds of mushrooms...in the learning process.
I have never seen a...chicken! That thing is a monster, nice work! |
