Here's a closeup so you can see how big they were. These were the biggest ones on the left end of the towel I put em on.....we found all 63 of these in about an hour. Not too shabby for our first outing of the year!

Good luck to all! :)

Well, same old same old as far as's a south-facing hill....lots of the big-tooth aspens around, lots of dead fallen trees in varying stages of decay. It looks like there may have been a fire there many years ago, not so sure that it is still helping the shrooms this many years later though. Most of the specific spots where I found them were a ways off from the burnt stuff. But who knows??

Seeing the blackened bases at the bottoms of the trees is what made me stop to look there in the first place...years in that respect the burn definitely helped ME out! lol I like my spot, that's for sure...though I've never taken out "bushels" like some of the regulars here have with their spots. Can't wait til I find a spot like that for ME!

NICE JOB!! I know a place where there's an old burn, but it's all old mature oaks. I've never seen morels in that spot. However, the trees near there that are oaks are really good for fall shrooms. If I ever come across an old burn area that's not oaks I'm going to jump on if for sure though.

Completely obsessed with fungi.
