Slugs as Mycophagists

Under the heading"Slugs are mycophagists" in Researchers in Fungi pg 224. They explore new chemo tactic experiments. It appears slugs can smell mushrooms they like at a distance (although not a great one) !!
Maybe it might be possible to create a slug powered mushroom pointer! Draw a 20ft large compass on flat ground and place a big open can of slugs in the center...After a period of time follow the compass point with the most passing slugs A less stressful method of using slugs would be to wait along a path until one passes and following it to the mushroom. If you spot a slug mugger waiting along a trail with a salt shaker please give them a wide berth. Mushroom slug mugging takes intense concentration:blank:
