Buzzard Reports

We are presently in Illinois visiting my grandbaby (and her mom and dad of course). LOL We spotted our first buzzards at the New Buffalo exit. No doubt about it, they were buzzards. While at home, we received another 3/4" of snow over night making it close to 6" fresh this week, the buzzards warm the heart that the season is just around the corner. It may be a long-sweeping corner, but its just around it.

Can't wait...

Re: Buzzard Reports

They've been here in St Joe county MI for a few days now. At first I think they were just looking for a place to land that didn't have snow but it's finally pretty much gone now.

I've been seeing them in Berrien Co. for almost two weeks now. Also spotted some Sandhill Cranes earlier this week. Like the vultures, Cranes soar for hours, riding on thermals.

I'm snowmobiling on the trail right now by Petoskey. Still over knee deep in the woods.

I believe that 110% Jon. Almost that bad here in my area.

On the upside, driving home today I saw a lone buzzard near US 131 at the 142 exit (25-30 min south of Cadillac) and another just north of Cadillac. I think they were lost but they are way farther north than I would have anticipated. The major snowline still seems to be just south of Cadillac.

Re: Buzzard Reports

We are fortunate enough to have a buzzard rookery on our property(they are beautiful birds... at a distance). The first few scouts got here about a week ago and now most of the colony is back. Usually they get here right around the equinox so they aren't too far behind. There is still more than a foot of snow in our good morel areas though... This is in Alpena county.
