Embarrassing

I'm not finding any mushrooms and there are plenty being harvested by others in the same spots that I hunt.

It is embarrassing!

This may be the last year I bother with morels.

I have to keep adding spots Robert. Some are obvious and luck is on my side. Ya can't give up. I have fun finding small spots that no one else is looking at.

Re: Embarrassing

I think the only reason I found any this year so far was because of the person I went out with, and she took us to a guaranteed area, we didn't get tons, but we had a good lil pile, I was certainly happy with it. Hoping redbull and I find more...lol

Re: Embarrassing

Well you aren't alone. We drove all over the NW lower and only found one.... tons of ticks but only one black morel. Everyone coming out of the woods were saying they were doing great.... We were joking that it was a $200 morel between feeding our four kids and the suburban.... Get home and go to a cookout at my brother in laws for mother's day, walk back into the woods a bit and find 50 of the buggers (yellow) under an elm, go figure.

Re: Embarrassing

Know how you feel. Made many trips up north and only came back with a hand full of morels. Now I spend most of my time finding new spots in SE Mi. and fin ding a lot more mushrooms. Good luck.

Re: Embarrassing

See, I hardly waste my time down here anymore. Much more enjoyable picking up there. Less briars, bugs, thorns, etc. I made a good discovery up there this year. I noticed that the NW area of the state where I generally pick is at least a few days behind East of 75. Only found a few west of 75. Went east and they were everywhere, even though there was less undergrowth in the woods. It was a good learning experience this year for sure.

I am going to hunt one more time.

I have very productive forays for chanterelles, hens, chickens, shaggy parasols, blewits etc.
