Hericium coralloides?

I hate to keep bothering people here and I have ordered a book, but in the mean time, I think from the key on mushroom expert this is Hericium coralloides. Confirm? Found on a dead log (10 years or more). unknown specie of log. The spines are about 1/4 inch in length or less.

Bruce - excellent eating find whatever the species is. Denfinately Hericium. The spines... would you say most of them are at least 1 cm long or shorter than 1 cm? More than likely its H. americanum - I had this same dillema yesterday and figured mine are both H. americanum given the length of the spines. Interesting fungus isn't it!

The best lessons are those learned before you wish you had known better, especially when thinking edible mushrooms.
