Them critters are just extra protein,they haven't killed me yet!!!haha!

I just keep telling my wife that worms and slugs are extra protein. She does not agree with that theory! I try to be very careful when I cut the shrroms. When there is visable dirt/sand/leaf litter/bugs/etc. >>>I try to clean it off before I put that tastey find in my bag. Sometimes you just have to spend the extra time cleaning them after you get home. Am I strange, or is an occasional extra "crunch" from a grain of sand acceptable - ???

I usually slice them in half and rinse them with cold water four or five times. If they are real buggy, I soak them in salty water for an half hour, then go on with the fresh water rinse. I dry them by blotting with paper towels before throwing them in the frying pan.
