Mesick Mushroom Festival

Heading up to Manistee County. Plan on spending hours on end in the woods near caberfae and stopping in to check out the Mesick Mushroom Festival. With rain predicted all day Thursday I think the pickins should be fantastic! If you see a silver van parked down the trails with a deer trailer hitch cover...thats me! Stop and say hi!
I'll post what I find...(as I silently pray for the motherload) . Everyone be safe out there...tell someone where your going, carry a whistle, a compass, a large mesh bag (for the awesome score), a cell phone and a moop bag.
Moop bag= Matter Out of Place Bag to haul out the crap left by less considerate folks.
P.S. Happy Mothers Day Mom....love you.....and to all you shroom moms.

There were forecasting 30% chance of rain on Thursday and 60% chance of rain on Thursday night but that changed today. Now they are not predicting any. They are actually predicting late next week to be close to 99degrees up here and bone dry.

Still hoping for some rain. If pickins are bad this weekend I'll plan on heading back next. Perhaps this year will be a wash out or maybe, just maybe there will be a bumper crop for the memorial weekend. Still worthwhile spending time in the woods. I remain forever hopeful...glass is definately 1/2 full
P.S. I also washed my car....it WILL rain!

the place i picked all my morels when i was young, most years we got a bunch of yellows on memorial weekend. used to work out for us just about every year. we made the trip for the bass opener but almost always had morels to pick. really hoping i will at least have a decent amount of them by the end of the month this year... still a lot of time left to see. i have to admit so far it's been frustrating.
