Re: Lilacs in your area

most of my lilacs are turning brown now. And the neighbors girl came up to ask me if she had found a mushroom and was it good to eat. It was a yellow about 5 inches tall. She said they had found several.

everywhere around us lilacs are in bloom, but ours just have buds that refuse to open so far this year.

We saw a large area of lilac bushes over the weekend. Part of the bushes had blooms, part of them had dried up brown ones.

Until we saw that, I was a firm believer in them as a tell tale sign of when to look for whites.

Used to go by the trillium and leeks, too, but again, this past weekend changed that!

Such a weird season, for sure!!

My Canadian Lilac has both fully open blooms and buds that will be open in four or five days. In the 25yrs this is the first time the tree hasn't bloomed in its entirety.

I also have hollyhocks about to blossom in two or three days. Last year they started blooming in late June.

I have no mushrooms.

Lilacs are pretty much done in SW MI, and I suspect so are the morels.

The lilacs in this area are in bloom, but the blooms look odd, like they never fully developed. We've had a crazy season here and the morel hunting has been terrible.
