went with four guys who ate every one of them verpa's they could find. they just picked the cap off the stem didnt eat the stem, said they been eating them like that for years, and loved em. i just couldnt pull my self to eat them, what do all you think?

Risky at best. I've heard all sorts of different methods to eating those and beef steaks and its all a gamble in my book. Gambling with money is one thing, gambling with health and life is another thing altogether. I won't do it.

The best lessons are those learned before you wish you had known better, especially when thinking edible mushrooms.

Read some of these and you'll discover why sensible mushroomers value safety over taste.

Remember the addage:
There are Old mushroom hunters.

My family ate them for year's. My mushroom book said that enough people eat them that they wouldn't label them as poisonous. But after advice from everyone on this site, we are not going eat them anymore. Just not worth the risk.
