HELP identifying Michigan Shelf Mushroom

Hey all, I came across this giant shroom today while on a walk. I haven't been able to pinpoint the type though. I would love some expertise from the Almighty Michigan Morels E-board. Please and thank you!!

Polyporus squamosus Edible but not a whole lot of people eat it. Use only when they're young, soft and fresh.

Re: HELP identifying Michigan Shelf Mushroom

Is there any known relationship between the appearance of the Dryad Saddles and Morels as far as timing is concerned? Not appearing on the same hosts together( one on wood the other on soil) I know, but maybe the polypores signaling the timing may be right to look for Morels? Hope this doesn't sound wierd, but they seem to appear at similiar times. Gary

Re: HELP identifying Michigan Shelf Mushroom

I have found the white/grey morels when the dryad's saddle is beginning to be past prime. That is just where I live though. I always associate Dryad with the start of the "big harvest" season.

Re: HELP identifying Michigan Shelf Mushroom

I'm fairly new to all of this, but i came across some really small mushrooms that looked identical to these. As far as the "fuzzy?" looking cap goes.
