Found a fawn while mushrooming!

Went to look at a good looking ash tree and curled up at the bottom was a tiny fawn. It remained stock still. So much so that I had left my camera phone; went back to the van to get it; came back; couldn't find the fawn again; looked for more mushrooms; then stumbled onto it about a half hour later and it was still there!

Cool pic. Let it grow. It should be ready to pick in Oct. or Nov.

I remember my father telling me he came across a fawn hiding in the brush while morel hunting once.

That is so cool Scott! Great pic and story!

LOL @ j for leaving it to grow to being enough to pick, or harvest.
jhorn, you should have added a year to that time frame tho'.

Re: Found a fawn while mushrooming!

I like that let it grow too. But my monster bucks take several years growth before THEY are ready!

Also, I left my phone in the van on purpose earlier when I went to check out a dead apple tree I knew of. Shouldn't have. Saw something scurrying in front of my feet. What I thought were field mice were actually two little downy woodcock chicks - no more that a few days old! Looked like little chicken babies as their little feet ran as fast as they could and their little bodies wobbles back and forth! They were amber with darker brown streaks. Cutest things you've ever seen! Mom took off a few second later, so I know they were wood cocks. I walked wide around them to let em be in peace. Man was that cool!

Very cool Scott. Nature plays for keeps, way to leave it alone until harvest.
