yellow chants

About one and a half pounds of yellow chants today. A couple of cinnabars... a couple of hedge hogs.. The chants were so big and dense they were like lobsters. They were a lot of fun to find!

Awesome! I know this is primarily a morel hunters website, but I can not believe there is not more posting about the chants! They are fun to hunt and they really taste great! I am glad to see your post . Enjoy them!

This time of the year is slow on this forum. It is busiest during morel season, and second busiest in September and October when the fall mushrooms are out.

Re: yellow chants

Not only yellow chants, black trumpets, cinnebars, hedgehogs... and more I'm sure that I don't know anything about. It does seem like it's morels and hens. Neither of which do we have any luck with.. lol Personally I'm glad so few people hunt the others. :)

I know the bugs are terrible. I have found the answer though. I bought a "Thermocell." This thing is amazing. I have tried several other repellents but nothing has worked as well.

Re: yellow chants

Skitters are nasty this year....wife bought a photo cell thing and she likes it. I personally have used tea tree oil for a few years now. Not fond of using deet and have found the tea tree oil works great...not for as long as bug spray but it does work.

I'm a little bit behind you down there. Got these a couple of days ago, nice Chanterelles, Lobsters and some Wild Blueberries, to make a nice Wild Blueberry Cream Pie. Raspberries are just starting to ripen too. We're finally getting some rain so things are looking up !

Re: yellow chants

Lobsters look awesome! Great job on all! I also heard that vicks vapor rup works well. I met some loggers in the U.P. this spring that use it to repel the mosquitos. So far though I am in love with my thermocell. I have used this thing since the spring without any other repellent and have had no issues. When its on its like there are no bugs. Well worth the investment.
