Cadillac

Was up in the Cadillac/Boone area a week ago yesterday (April 27), hunted my tried and true spots and got skunked. Thinking of heading up this coming Monday, anybody have any reports for the area?

Thanks,
Eric

Eric, I only found 5 small blacks in the Cadillac area. I've never hunted up there so it could be I just didn't know what I was doing. One of them was spored out and stood less than 3 inches tall.

Re: Cadillac

I spent 7 hours in the woods today, just West of Cadillac and only found 23. 7 whites, 8 half frees and 8 blacks. I was up 2 weekends ago and only found 3. I am not sure what is going on, but it has been pretty slow.

Cool temps? May just make it a quick but good black season up north.

So, you think it hasn't gotten into full shroom up there Frank? Do you think we will find a lot next weekend in the Gaylord area? After this weekends waste of gas I'm thinking of blowing it off but I want to meet you and Debbie. You are going to be there, right?

Re: Cadillac

Its still just a touch early up there. The ground coverage is going to be much more green than normal years in that area. Some spots still are completely brown depending on the direction the hill is facing. Me and the wife took home 174 blacks from that area this weekend. We found patches. Not really the one here two there kinda year for blacks it seems in that area. We also found about 30 greys that were an inch tall which we left. Couple were slightly larger that we took home with us too. They need a little more rain and some warmer temps. I would guess this weekend will be good greys and probably even still find some blacks with the cold front.

Re: Cadillac

Thanks for this update. My husband, son, son in law and I are thinking about coming up the 19th and 20. It's a 6 hour drive so I am watching the weather....looks like you need some rain up that way. I hate to make the trip and not find ANYTHING. The last time we were able to head that way...it cost $1000 in vehicle repair to get us back home with no mushrooms. I love this site....
