Good Morning Michigan Morel Hunters..
My wife and I have hunted these little tasty mushrooms our whole lives. Since we both have retired from our careers, we look forward to spending more time to hunt morels. We have lived in Northern Newaygo County for a few years and found some new spots to find mushrooms. We are still seeking that big patch. We also have property on Drummond Island that has produced well for us although not in recent years. We look forward to hearing about all of your successes and will share ours. Here is my first report for 2017 in Northern Newaygo County. April 23, we found 52 dark morels but we only had a couple of hours to look. May 6, we found 10 really dark and big morels in our yard under the old apple tree. This is the first time that has happened. I plan to head out this afternoon with my lab to find more. Good luck everyone. |
