What are these?

Can anyone tell me if these are edible, or what they could be both dangerous and edible to put me on the right track of identifying them?

Thanks

Re: What are these?

They kind of look like oysters, which are edible.
I am not 100% sure, though, so I would not eat them.

Oysters are a potential ID for these.

Look like poplar oysters. Yum. Here's an example of some from Tuesday.

Yours are just further along, but everything looks right. If they smell like black licorice, you've got a match.

Look like oysters to me. The smell is a definite deciding factor. Look out for white larvae!

Is that a dead Bigtooth Aspen they are growing on? Those are quite common in Northern MI...a little less common in the Southern part of the state.
