Because they are out of print and in the hands of people that know the value of them, plus you have to remember that most of your older books did not have a large printing of volumes of the book itself, so think about this say if Boletes of Michigan, was only printed in 25,000 copies, 25,000 seems like a large number, but distributed across the North American continent for sale, that number becomes very small, then think of all the copies that did not sell, they were probably destroyed by the publisher as a "stale inventory",mike

Roosevelt, you are probably right my friend. Remember those books I received awhile back? I got those because I ran a 2 dollar ad in our local paper. Not a newspaper, but one of those buy, sell, trade type papers. Can't hurt to place an ad. All mine said was, "Wanted: mushroom field guides and any literature about fungi".
Good luck!
