Find any good corn smut?

Some farmers are picking corn for silage already(?) so I went a "a corn row stomping" in hopes of finding some fresh smut...sigh, although some would pay for the experience I found getting sweaty, bugged and scratched with out the reward of a basket of smut quite disappointing. That and the looks from the folks staying at the B&B next to my sisters farm when I stumbled out of the field with my tank top, shorts and empty basket made for my brother-in-laws questioning of my corn hunting technique So Has anyone had any luck (if you are not the farmer that is smut invested that is, then sorry, can I help?) finding any fresh C.S?

Paullee, you are too late for smut, smut occurs right after the cobs begin to become full, and the end of the cob becomes swollen, the silk drops from it, usually mid August timeframe, mike

Thank you M,B and C! I did some web searching and so far have found no one that grows organic, makes me wonder the possibilities? The Delicious poor spores suffer from a marketing image. I gracefully except your help.

Smut is good if made properly, I tried it 3 times last year and twice this year, the first year wasn't that good, think I picked it too late, but this year I got it when it was grey and not black, was dam tasty with corn, peppers and some homemade chorizo, sprinkled with salt and some anaheim pepper sauce, mike
