Re: tastiest shrooms?

For me it does not get any better then B. Edulis (king)! Morels, Chants, Hens all good, but B Edulis truly is king when it comes to flavor. That Nutty goodness can't be beat at least not yet. I do have to say the Lactarius Rufulus is really interesting with its Maple Syrupy smell and semi sweet taste (people make these in cookies). It's weird but I feel chants and hens have the same taste and texture.

Black Morels, followed by the Greys, then Black Trumpets have HUGE mushroom flavor. I can also add Honeys and,,,,,,,,
I just had some Chestnut Boletes about 5 min. ago. Lemme tell ya.. Those babys were pretty tasty themselves...

What's you're favorite mushroom?

I would have to say that out of all of the mushrooms that I've eaten I've most definitely found my favorite one a couple days ago and ate it today. It was a first ID, but with paying attention to all of the close details I ate my first horse mushroom today. WOW!!! If I ever find some nice ones again I'm making portabello type burgers with those things....mmmmmmmmm!!!!! Now I'm just curious though. What's you're absolute favorite mushroom? I really love them all in there own way, but the horse put the icing on the cake for sure.

Hey, I posted something similar today and I didn't even realize this thread was already up.....oops..lol!! I'd have to say my favorite was my first Horse mushroom I had earlier today. Then probably the meadow, then hen, then chanterelle, morel, and on down.

Re: tastiest shrooms?

I Agree buddy... George gave me a Horse Mushroom... And I thought Holy Crap,,,,, This is by far the best tasting Shroom I ever had....

And that still holds True after having the Hen, Chants, Honeys,Oysters.
Looking for one to hold a candle to that one........
