Im freezing those this am. Going back out to same spot. Have a huge area to look around. We had to get 2 granddaughters off bus as soon as we found 1st tree. I have to tell ya, we only found them by the very mature oaks that bark was coming off. I will take camera today. Oh and Jon, we found them together. i said slow down check that tree, he was going to anyways...so he says lol

Hens
Call me Deb, and Brad I sauted some and than froze.I minced some and frooze. I got around 34 qt bags. Man what a job cleaning them. Oh my aching back. Took me about 4 hrs.(doing it alone of course)

I told you so Barb,better you then me.That can be one heck of a job. Today i foun about a 10 pounder, at first i wasn't even going to cut it. Am i glad i did. That was by far the cleanest hen i found thus far this season,and i found some clean ones.

Barb,
I use the tender parts for eating, and for the tougher center that don't cook up well for eating, I dice real fine (1/8th inch pieces) and then cook in a sauce pan with a little water for about 15 minutes. Let the water evaporate during cooking until they are almost dry, but not quite. Now you have Hen duxcell to be used in sauces, gravies, rubs, and stuffing for meats. Great stuff! Even Debbie will eat muchrooms this way.
