Oh Yeah!!
Them's some sweet looking shrooms there! In cut wood situations, I find many monsters that just have a obviously different look to them for being black morels. Are they a different kind of black? I dunno and don't care cause they taste great! Congrats on the finds!!

Ed, We've found some like that, but haven't been back to that place in several years.

These are very meaty ( almost like the yellows) and so black that you fingers are stained as soon as you touch em. Right?

These are the kind that miker calls the "True" Blacks.

Pic one shows some imature ones up to mature.
But the ones you are holding in pic 2 are the real deal bud!

Go back there "at least" every other day, for the next week.
Believe it or not, those ones you're holding are not full grown yet.
Yeah. They get even bigger and blacker! True!

These are hard to find, and only grow when conditions are just right to their liking. Also their growing season seems to be shorter than the normal blacks.

I'm no expert, and only found them in one spot.
But we went back to that spot time and time again, and even tho the general season may be good, that spot may or not produce. My motto is when you find those... Guard the spot location with your life, and get them when they are there. They may not be there every year.

Those are the very best Black Morels I've ever ate!

Congratulations, and I'm very Jealous.
PS. I've taken the liberty of downloding, resizing and uploading for you so that people can see the pics without waiting for another wqindow to open and download.

In the process I accidentally deleted your links to your original larger photo's. You can post the links again either by reply or editing your 1st post. Sorry, but I got excited by them. LOL

Some of the best people are found right here. - You!
