Well the BTA woods

Didn't offer me up much today, except a great time out.
I kicked up a turkey and 2 grouse and that was the first 5 minutes I was in the woods.
I didn't even see a Gyromitra/False morel today.

I did find a huge area of B.T.A. and as I was easing along a ridge, I suddenly came to a zone that just felt right. I slowed way down and spent the next 3 hours easing through trying to find one. Nothing.
Ground temperatures in the woods struggled to hit 40 degrees, and most times they didn't get much above 35 at 2 inch depth. I was able to record some 50 plus temps right out on the trail.
I'll say one thing, this new area I came into today will hold a black morel. or they just dont grow here.
Anyhow, I took a few pictures of the BTA area........nothing spectacular like I said:

yep, all clear here Dennis. I just need to get my timing right on these black morels.
One area I checked today had plenty of false morels last year, and I haven't seen those yet.
So, anyhow, I feel like I'm in a good area. And thats the first deal. A positive attitude.
These blacks shall no longer elude me!!!!!! lol

What does BTA stand for? Blacks To Apear? lol Looks like a mighty fine place for them to show themselves when the sun warms the earth a little more there. Happy hunting!
